Learn a variety of textile decorative techniques that can be used on clothing or for artwork.

They can be tailored to your ability and the techniques you are keen on learning. I predominantly teach my sewing workshops as online lessons over Zoom so I can teach people all over the world.

Learn how to do
Free Machine Embroidery

This technique is like sketching with your sewing machine.

Your sewing machine is used to create free hand embroidery, which can be a stand-alone piece or combined with other techniques such as applique.

This could be one lesson or a series of lessons depending on what you want.

Requirements: You need to have a sewing machine that allows you to drop down the feed dogs and an embroidery foot.

Learn  how to do Quilting

There are a variety of different quilting techniques that I can teach you.

Quilting - Using padding behind the fabric and then stitching design - this can then be painted.

Trapunto - Stitching on 2 layers of fabric and then stuffing elements of the design from behind to create a raised relief.

Italian quilting - Stitching on 2 layers of fabric and then stuffing with cording to create a linear quilted design.

This could be one lesson or a series of lessons depending on what you want.

Learn how to Applique

Applique is when one piece of fabric is applied onto of another and stitched.

I can teach you two types of applique:

Applique: This is where shapes are cut out and stitched onto fabric.

Reverse applique: A design is stitched onto several layers of fabric and then the fabric is cut back to reveal lower layers of fabric.

This could be one lesson or a series of lessons depending on what you want.

Fabric Manipulation

The manipulation of fabric to its appearance, drape and texture.

There are a huge number of fabric manipulation techniques:

Tucking, pleating, gathering, chenille effect, slashing, crashing, shirring and pleating.

This could be one lesson or a series of lessons depending on what you want.
